The arts and culture sector is fun and vibrant, creative, innovative and always evolving. Do you know all the great things about working in the sector, but sometimes have trouble expressing them? Or maybe you’re hiring for a new role and wondering how the salary and benefits stack up. If so, you won’t want to miss the next session in our workshop series (and the last one for 2022).
This free session, on November 23, will be unique from previous offerings, taking the form of a roundtable discussion in which we’ll take a deep dive into the topic of “Building Sustainable Jobs in the Arts.” Hosted online, it will be moderated by Amy Henderson, Executive Director of Business & Arts NL, and will feature Penelope Rowe, CEO at Community Sector Council NL (CSCNL); Natalie Hand, Managing Partner at KBRS and Meridia Recruitment Solutions; and Grégoire Gagnon, Executive Director at Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC).
Using the CSCNL’s Survey on Salary and Benefits in the Community Sector 2022 as a jumping off point, we’ll look at how this data can be applied to the creative sector as we discuss wages, compensation and benefits, attraction and retention strategies, the importance of transparent salary information, transparent and equitable hiring practices, how working conditions in the arts are evolving, the benefits of working in the sector, and more. We’ll also look at how the survey can potentially be used as a tool for advocacy with regards to wage and employment standards in the sector.
We hope you’ll join our panel for what’s sure to be an engaging, robust and lively conversation, and invite you to bring your questions as we look at the dynamic landscape of the arts and culture sector and the various aspects of working within it. Everyone is welcome!
