Are you an illustrator, graphic designer and/or a visual artist with a strong graphic aesthetic? We’re looking for someone to produce vector-based art that will be used for our 2023 Holiday Gift Guide. You will work closely with our in-house graphic designer to create spot graphics that will be used for the cover of this year’s Holiday Gift Guide and in social media graphics to promote the guide.
Interested? Please submit:
- 3 images of your work
- A brief description of your vision for the art you would like to create, and a brief description of your prior experience with vector-based/digital artwork
- A 200-word biography
- A link to your website or portfolio
The successful applicant will receive an artist fee of $300.
Submission deadline: Friday, October 6, 2023.
Notification of results will be sent by October 13.
Final files will be due by November 3.
Is there a specific theme or guidelines to follow when submitting?
We are looking for holiday-themed graphics and/or custom type that are colourful and bold. These spot graphics will be used to frame text. i.e. the titles on the front cover of the guide or to frame information on social media posts.
Excited to see examples of type-driven designs that showcase custom type and/or hand lettering as the title is the focus of the cover.
We encourage applicants to review the last three year’s guides ( 2020 was a snowy landscape, 2021 was seasonal florals, 2022 was type and gifts that referenced hand-painted signs) and our Instagram feed to better understand the style and application of the type of graphics we are looking for.
Is there a limit on the number of pieces I can submit?
Yes, 3 samples of work that demonstrate your ability to produce vector-based work and creative style. We also encourage you to provide a link to your website or Instagram page to give us the opportunity to view a broader range of your work as well.
What format should I be submitting in?
JPGs under 5MB
Please contact email@example.com. We will get back to you within 2 business days.
