Gander International Airport
1 pm, Thursday, December 12, with special guest Petrina Bromley!
Business & Arts NL and Corporate Sponsor Come From Away Broadway are proud to announce the launch of a new #ComePlayWithMeNL public piano at the Gander International Airport at 1pm on Thursday, Dec. 12 – featuring our own Petrina Bromley, accompanied by local pianist Tina Stryde.
This soon-to-be-revealed instrument is sponsored by Come From Away Broadway. “We are excited to place this piano at the Gander Airport,” said Sue Frost of Junkyard Dog Productions. “We see our placing this public piano at the airport as a fitting tribute to the spirit and hospitality of the people of Newfoundland & Labrador.”
This piano features artwork by Jennifer Young. Her design celebrates the success of the hit musical based on the events in Gander following 911.
Petrina Bromley has appeared at the Stratford Festival in As You Like It, The Hypochondriac; Royal Alexandra/La Jolla Playhouse/Seattle Rep: Come From Away; National Arts Centre: Enron, The Sound of Music, Tartuffe, Metamorphoses; Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland: Oil and Water, AfterImage, Fear of Flight. She now performs daily on Broadway as Bonnie, the Gander SPCA Manager, in Come From Away.
Additional contributors include Kim Saunders, who donated the piano and dedicates it to her parents Howard and Phyllis Saunders, for their dedication to the Town of Gander; and Household Movers Gander, who move many pianos, free of charge, for Business & Arts NL every year.
Other #ComePlayWithMeNL pianos can be found at the St. John’s International Airport, Deer Lake Regional Airport, Memorial University Student Centre, Atlantic Place, the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s Arts & Culture Centre, the Emera Innovation Exchange, and St. John’s Farmers’ Market. Two more pianos will be launched by Business & Arts NL in the next few months. Stay tuned!
