Business & Arts NL is proud to announce our next #ComePlayWithMeNL Public Piano!
Reveal and Celebration at the
Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville,
10:30 am, Thursday, March 19, 2020
Business & Arts NL and corporate sponsor The Callahan Group of Companies are proud to announce the launch of a new #ComePlayWithMeNL public piano at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital at 10:30 am, Thursday, March 19. The event will feature local pianist Jesse Renouf.
“We are proud to place this piano at the Stephenville Hospital for the enjoyment and inspiration of patients and health care workers alike,” said sponsor Dave Callahan. “This piano reflects our pride in the heritage of western Newfoundland.” The Callahan Group of Companies is a highly diversified and active entrepreneurial force in Newfoundland & Labrador.
This piano was donated by Russell’s Funeral Home in Stephenville, in memory of Cosmos Russell, and features artwork by Newfoundland Mi’kmaq artist Marcus Gosse. His design speaks to themes of comfort, care and compassion with imagery that celebrates Mi’kmaq pride, respect, unity, and peace.
The instrument will be premiered as a public piano by local musician Jesse Renouf, who won the Rotary Festival Rose Bowl in 2016 for piano.
Additional contributors include Household Movers, who move many pianos, free of charge, for Business & Arts NL every year, and the Stephenville Arts & Culture Centre, who stored the piano and provided studio space for the artist.
This event is open to the public – please join us!
Other #ComePlayWithMeNL pianos can be found at the St. John’s International Airport, Deer Lake Regional Airport, Memorial University Student Centre, Atlantic Place, the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s Arts & Culture Centre, the Emera Innovation Exchange, the St. John’s Farmers’ Market, Gander International Airport, and the Goose Bay Airport.
