A well-planned and executed fundraising program is essential for any arts organization’s long-term vision and success. But how do you start? Join Jennifer O’Neill for a session on fundraising essentials and learn how to start or grow a fundraising program. Topics we’ll cover include:
- developing a basic fundraising plan
- engaging with your board for maximum impact
- starting/increasing major gifts
- sponsorships (and how they differ from charitable gifts)
- donor stewardship and where to look for funding
Whether your organization is volunteer-driven or has paid staff, the principles of a fundraising program can help it succeed.
With a background in fundraising, not-for-profit management and the arts, Jennifer has been fundraising professionally for 20 years. As Campaign Director at Memorial University, Jennifer has overseen faculty-based and central fundraising teams including major giving, annual giving, planned giving, stewardship and prospect research. Prior to joining Memorial, Jennifer was a fundraiser at the Arts Commons in Calgary, Alberta. She is active in the charitable sector as a board member, presenter and volunteer and has presented at fundraising conferences from Victoria to St. John’s, as well as in the US. Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in music from Memorial University, a master’s in Music Composition from the University of Calgary and is currently working on her MBA.
