    ### About the Gift

    Party Plates

These small plates started as a warm-up exercise. Whenever I have a day at the wheel, I start by making six small plates — but repetition has never been my strong suit and these bread and butter plates evolved! With a variety of surfaces and textures — often involving beach sand, I think these plates are fun and ideal for entertaining.

Whether your party involves birthday cake or drinks with canapés, your guests will enjoy choosing their favourite plate from your collection.

Shelley Cleary is the owner and operator of Black Spruce Company in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador.

Blending her artistic practice with sustainable farming, she creates handcrafted products that celebrate nature - ranging from beeswax soaps and luminaries to seasonal preserves and farm goods.

Her organizational mission is to support a more sustainable, locally rooted way of living by using natural and local ingredients. Through education, creativity and community connection, Shelley transforms the raw beauty of Labrador into meaningful, environmentally conscious pieces that inspire others to live closer to the land.

She also has a regular drawing practice, and loves to draw cats.

    ### About the Gift

    Beeswax Luminaries

Our handcrafted beeswax luminaries are a true celebration of nature and light. Each one is made from pure beeswax and carefully designed to showcase pressed flowers harvested and preserved right here on the farm. When lit, the warm, golden glow reveals the natural beauty of the petals within, creating a soothing and one-of-a-kind centerpiece.

Unlike traditional candles, these luminaries are refillable - simply place a tealight inside to enjoy their gentle radiance again and again. Naturally fragrant with the sweet scent of beeswax and completely free of additives or synthetic dyes, they embody both sustainability and artistry.

  • Greg Bolger Photography

    ### Meet the Maker

I am a photographer from Newfounland and Labrador who was born on the coast of Labrador but has called St. John's home since attending Memorial University for the first time in 1983.

The City of St. John's has been a major source of inspiration for my photography as I began to capture the beauty of the colourful rows of jellybean houses that wind and gambol down the twisted streets of the oldest city in North America.

Photography, for me, is a therapeutic exercise, an opportunity to live in the moment as I lose myself in the process of capturing the unique beauty of the simplest things.

    ### About the Gift

This is my 2026 wall calendar. It is filled with scenes that reflect the beauty of not only St. John's but also some of the most visited and admired scenery from the east coast of the island of Newfoundland by tourists and locals alike.

If you are living away from the island it will surely bring back fond memories of your home on The Rock... if you know someone who has visited our island paradise it will certainly remind them of the good times and friendly people they have been blessed to meet and experience here in Newfoundland.

As each stone is shaped and polished the intention is to add a delicate and fluid quality, juxtaposed to the heavy, rough nature of rocks.

Island Stone Designs has been a natural evolution through Kyle’s passion for geology, exploring the province, and his artistic practice. Island Stone Designs was established in the 2017, and is based out of Branch, Newfoundland.

    ### About the Gift
