Do you love shopping local, or the thrill you get when you find that special, one-of-a-kind item for that person on your gift list who seems to have everything? Or maybe you’re looking for some inspiration and ideas as we edge closer to the holiday season. Our 2022 Local Holiday Gift Guide is here for you!
This year, we’re so excited to showcase over 170 items from 60 local artists and creative entrepreneurs across the province. You’ll find cute and quirky greeting cards that evoke warm feelings of home; handcrafted natural bath and beauty products; tote bags and tea towels featuring Newfoundland and Labrador food faves; NL-inspired pottery, sculpture and carvings; custom clothing; rug hooking kits; hand-knit hats and mitts; and so much more. You’ll even find sweet beanie hats, wooden puzzles and cute, crocheted critters for the little ones in your lives, and special gifts for your furry friends too!
Or, if you want to give your friend or family member an experience they won’t forget, perhaps a ticket to a live performance, or a dance lesson or an art/craft class is just what you’re looking for. Our gift guide has lots of great suggestions!
We’ve created our Local Holiday Gift Guide with ease of navigation in mind, organizing it into seven categories (just click the category or the artist/organization name to take you straight to that section in the PDF). You’ll also find a “return to main menu” button at the bottom of each page, which makes it easy to browse the guide or jump to specific sellers or categories.
The lovely graphics that you see sprinkled throughout this year’s guide were created by St. John’s graphic designer/creator Renée Baldwin. With a passion for typography and lettering, her vision aims “to give a nod to the classic hand-painted windows you would see leading up to Christmas at your favourite local retailer,” she says.
“The hope was that the use of fun and festive typography paired with simple illustrations would give readers the feeling of walking into the newest one-stop shop for all their holiday needs!”
We hope you enjoy perusing our guide as you dive into your holiday shopping this year, and hope that you’ll share it with others so that we can spread the love for our local arts and creative communities even further (click here to check it out).
Happy shopping, and happy holidays!
