Call for Artist Submissions - Piano Project

Call for Proposals - Visual ArtistsDeadline Sunday, October 4th

Street Pianos are a rapidly growing international phenomenon. To date, over 1300 pianos have been displayed in 45 cities across the world in order to help create moments of connection, community and beauty within our urban lives, promoting the value of art by increasing access to it, and enticing the musicians inside all of us to come out and play.

Business and Arts NL is seeking local artists interested in decorating a handful of pianos to be installed in public indoor places in St. John’s.

Each piano will include an invitation to sit and play on the inside of the key cover, as well as Business and Arts NL logo. A sign measuring 12” x 24” will be placed on top of the piano, highlighting the business partnership for that particular piano. Decoration can include any media, but must not impede the musical functioning of the piano. Here’s an example of the piano installed at the St John’s International Airport

As well as being paid a fee, artists chosen for this opportunity will be given a one-year membership in Business and Arts NL, and will receive media attention as part of the promotion surrounding this project.

If you are interested in designing one of our pianos, please contact us with an expression of interest by Sunday, October 4th at midnight.

Please submit the following:

• 100-200 word biography

• five jpegs of your past work

• brief description of your design concept for a piano

• timeline and proposed fee

Applications can be sent to contact@businessandartsnl.com Please include Piano Proposal in subject line of email.

We look forward to your submissions!
