ArtSupport NL

A fundraising capacity-building program that provided coaching and training to 33 arts organizations.

ArtSupport NL

This program was developed to share fundraising skills and knowledge to improve fundraising practices in arts organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Thirty-three arts organizations from across the province worked with fundraising professionals to learn recommended practices in fundraising, create fundraising plans, design fundraisers, and build teams and relationships. The program was designed to meet organizations where they were, offering different levels of support based on capacity.

Organizations with limited capacity participated in group learning, group coaching and individual check-ins with a coach. Organizations with enough staff capacity met with a professional fundraising coach bi-weekly, for up to four years in some cases.

This program ran from March 2018 through September 2021.

Project Impact

The program achieved significant measurable impact for participating organizations across two key phases:

Between 2018 and 2020:

  • Participants increased their fundraising revenues by 55% collectively

  • 70% of participants increased board participation in fundraising.

Between 2020 and 2022:

  • Participants increased their number of donors and sponsors by 285% collectively

  • Participants increased their fundraising revenue by 28% collectively, at a time when charitable giving decreased across the country.

  • 50% of participants successfully launched a new fundraiser or raised funds for the first time.
