Beyond the Glass is a self-standing installation that features a large-scale fish tank with animated sea creatures, brought to life through synchronized projections and augmented reality. Participants can create their own animations using iPads, contributing to the dynamic visuals. Additionally, an app allows attendees to explore the venue, discovering hidden digital creatures and fostering moments of wonder and connection. This blend of live animation and AR transforms the conference space into a vibrant, immersive environment, encouraging creativity and spontaneous interactions among participants.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, González worked as an animator, illustrator, and art director for motion graphic studios while publishing his personal works online and in self-published comic magazines. Since relocating to Canada in 2008, he has continued his career by creating graphic novels and zines such as “Año Sabático,” “Antes de Volver,” and “Loaded,” the latter depicting the music scene in the bars of St. John’s. He has participated in art exhibitions such as “Long Ways,” a solo show at The Rooms; and contributed comic strips and cover illustrations to cultural newspapers like “The Scope” and to local musicians like Neil Conway.

González is the co-founder of Toporama Prints, a design, screen printing, and publishing studio based in English Harbour, Newfoundland, responsible for the RPM illustrations and Youth Film Festival graphics, among other projects. Currently, he is part of the curatorial team at Eastern Edge Gallery in St. John’s, NL. His upcoming solo exhibition, “Rural Works,” will be presented during the Hamburg Comic Festival in Germany this fall.

About The Artists-in-Residence Initiative

The Artists-in-Residence at the (Un)Common Threads Creativity and Innovation Summit highlight the arts as an equal voice in conversations around creativity and innovation.

Artists will create original works throughout the day, allowing attendees to explore the creative process firsthand. From textile creation and virtual reality to live performances, the artists will be integrated into the event, adding layers of inspiration and excitement- ensuring an immersive experience.

The Artists-in-Residence were selected through a highly competitive process. This innovative program is a fresh approach for Business & Arts NL, and we hope to set an example for other organizations by showcasing the value that artists can bring to any event. By integrating live art into the Summit, we are offering attendees not only the chance to engage with these works but also to experience the intersection of business and arts in a dynamic, tangible way.
